Today I learned of another fabulous review of Dommemoir. Ashley Lister, whose columns I have enjoyed tremendously ever since I discovered Erotica Readers & Writers Association years ago, wrote:

Back in December, I discussed “Female Domination, Male Submission” with Deborrah Cooper, aka Ms. HeartBeat, on The Date Smarter Not Harder Relationships Talk Show. Shakhir Warren-Bey called in during the show.

Tuesday I received a message on Facebook from Shakhir aka Dr. Bey of Live Sex Talk Radio with Dr. Robinson and Dr.Bey. “Leather, Whips and Chains!! Oh My. Shining a light on the dark side of S&M Bondage” was the topic for the February 24 show. He remembered our conversation in December and asked would I like to join in?

Although short notice, I had no plans for Wednesday evening and how could an erotica writer and sex-positive advocate pass up an invitation to appear on a show called “Live Sex Talk Radio”? I’m glad I did, because I had a fabulous time. Fans of Live Sex Talk Radio don’t just listen to the show. They call in. They ask questions. They voice their opinions. I very much enjoyed the conversation.

Seattle Erotic Art Festival Literary Art Showcase

I’m honored to again have an opportunity to participate in the Seattle Erotic Art Festival Literary Art Showcase. Last year I had the privilege of working with Literary Art Showcase Director Shana Deon, an amazing woman who conceived of the Showcase and invested a tremendous amount of energy and innovation to make it happen. She worked with the SEAF team to incorporate the first ever erotic literary showcase produced as part of any erotic art show.

Founded in 2002 by the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture, the Seattle Erotic Art Festival promotes freedom of sexuality, speech and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art. The juried event, which has expanded over the years and now fills an exhibit hall at the Seattle Center, features work not easily found in mainstream galleries and museums. Selected pieces show the diversity of human sexual expression and explore the vast creativity that artists employ.

Created to highlight writing as an art form, the 2009 inaugural Literary Showcase featured work by poets, playwrights and authors from across the country. During SEAF, selected writing was exhibited through live readings and specially designed books in a luxurious environment created by Director Shana.

I enjoyed working with Shana so much last year, that I signed on early this year to help her make the showcase even more spectacular. (Plus, I owe SEAF a great personal debt, since I met my precious submissive, Patrick, there last year.)

This year I’ll help promote the showcase and will select the pieces exhibited from the finalists chosen by the other jurors. I’ll also attend the festival and do a reading sometime during the weekend. If you’re interested in submitting a piece for consideration, the call for writers is open until March 15.

New Dommemoir Review

Writing is a solitary profession. I often don’t leave my house for days at a time in order to concentrate on my work. Social media allows much more interaction between authors and their readers than in times past, but we still work in isolation.

That’s why reviews and reader comments are so important. They let us know that someone is paying attention. And, positive reviews and comments can make any day brighter.

Today, Brenda Thatcher, Co-Owner Mystique Books, made my day. She loved Dommemoir and gave it her highest rating: Five Mystique Moons (Cosmic) and Class Five sensuality (Raging Carnality). You can read her review at Mystique Books. Thanks Brenda!

On Saturday, I stumbled across some wonderfully positive (five of five-star) reviews for Dommemoir on LibraryThing.com. australwind of Melbourne, Australia, called Dommemoir “thoughtful, evocative, clearly voiced by its two main characters … erotic, tender and compelling” and also says: “This is one novel I would recommend as reading for those on the fringes who cannot get a grasp on why someone would enter this seemingly strange and evil world by choice. Even though it is presented as fiction, it gives the reader a look inside the minds of the characters and their struggling with choice, validation and acceptance of just who and what they are and have the potential to become.”
