Going Indie

Most of the short stories I’ve had published to date have appeared in magazines and anthologies with limited circulation. Although I’ve had a few available for sale online with different publishers, more have appeared in Hustler Fantasies, various imprints of Trojan Publishing in the UK, and other print publications.

Starting this week, I’m making my stories available online via Smashwords. You can purchase them individually for 99 cents. I’ll also be offering themed collections of three or more stories for $1.99 and up.

In addition to those that have been published previously, I’ll be selling some never-before-published stories.

The first story I’m releasing for sale is, appropriately, the first story I ever sold to a magazine (although I had two stories published previously as part of winning contests). “B&D Trainee” first appeared in the December 2004 issue of Hustler Fantasies.

Xavier promised to make his “B&D fantasies come true.” But, he only had “experience” watching S&M porn. Had he gotten in over his head?

“This was nuts. It didn’t seem to matter how perverted or how painful — everything she did turned me on.”

In addition to Smashwords, you should eventually be able to purchase “B&D Trainee” at Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Apple, Diesel, and Scrollmotion.

Using Power Exchange to Enhance Your Sexual Relationship

I very much admire writers who share vast amounts of information via their blogs and still produce pages and pages of manuscript each day. Frankly, I don’t know how they do it. For me, with all the other obligations I have, it seems I can do one or the other. And, I’ve chosen the latter. So, I will only post when I have news to share.

Today, I’m honored to report that the Salem Munch, which I led for three years, has invited me to speak on the five-year anniversary of its rebirth. I will give a presentation on “Using Power Exchange to Enhance Your Sexual Relationships” on Monday, March 7. The munch starts at 6 p.m. I look forward to seeing old friends and acquaintances as well as meeting some of the new folk who have joined in the last two years.

HEA Praises Dommemoir

As John Lennon sang, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

It’s not that I completely disappeared — I still tweet almost daily. I’ve just been working on so many projects, that I’ve neglected this part of my life.

I could use moving as an excuse — and indeed, that has much to do with my absence here. But, the last box was unpacked three months ago.

Today, another positive review for Dommemoir, posted on Happily Ever After Reviews, made me realize just how long I’ve been away.

There’s a FemDom story nagging me to write it and I still haven’t finished the edits on the novel I drafted almost two years ago. Time to come back.

Lesbian Love Three

My short story “Three Way,” along with five other erotic stories, currently appears in the Xcite anthology Lesbian Love Three, edited by Miranda Forbes.

“Three Way” tells the story of Melanie who fell in love with Theresa, then discovered a horrid sadist controlled the woman she adored. Revolted by his perverted games, she set aside her own dislike of men to find a better Master for her lover. Melanie even came to terms with the possibility that she might lose Theresa entirely in order to give her what she needed.

One of my co-authors is Elizabeth Coldwell, former editor of Forum Magazine who has purchased a number of my short stories and reviewed Broken, Shattered, and Dommemoir for Forum. In Elizabeth’s story, “Sticky Fingers,” Sylvie Noble’s suggestively named cupcake appalls Lavinia Crosse, who runs the village committee. Their passionate confrontation will tempt you to create sticky fingers of your own.

You can purchase the anthology with these two stories and four more here.

Oysters & Chocolate publishes “The Drummer”

My online presence has been a bit scarce these last few weeks. I never made it to SEAF. I still haven’t moved. And, I don’t think I’ve written a word of new fiction in six weeks. Life can be like that sometimes, peppered with illness, injury, moving logistics, and government paperwork. But, I’m hoping things will improve. I had a poem, The Drummer, published today on Oysters & Chocolate. And, I just signed a contract for short story to appear in an e-book anthology. (More on that in a day or two.)

Hard to believe that the Seattle Erotic Art Festival is little more than a week away. So much has happened in my life since I attended last year — mostly good things. I met, collared, and married my precious submissive, Patrick. Fanny Press. published Dommemoir, my third novel in print, but the sixth that I’ve written (the first erotica novel). And now, I’m in the throes of moving.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing all the amazing art that will be displayed and performed at the Festival and visiting with all the fascinating people who attend the event. I’m excited to give an erotic reading as part of the Festival on Saturday night, May 2 and teach a workshop on Sunday, May 1.

If you also write erotica, don’t forget Monday is the deadline to enter the Seattle Erotic Art Festival Literary Art Showcase. This year the Showcase offers even more opportunities and rewards to selected authors, including tickets to the amazing event.

Why have so many states passed laws prohibiting the use of handheld cell phones? Check out my new essay over on my WordPress blog.

Fab Review for Dommemoir

Today I learned of another fabulous review of Dommemoir. Ashley Lister, whose columns I have enjoyed tremendously ever since I discovered Erotica Readers & Writers Association years ago, wrote:

Dommemoir is a well-written story of sexual expression triumphing over sexual repression and a brand of true love that could only ever be experienced within the restrictions of a BDSM relationship. For those who are already familiar with this lifestyle, Dommemoir should prove a telling tale where readers can recognise their own experiences and preconceptions as they are met and managed. For those who don’t know the lifestyle but are curious to learn more, Dommemoir will give a fascinating insight to unimagined possibilities.”

You can read the full review here. Thanks Ashley!

Back in December, I discussed “Female Domination, Male Submission” with Deborrah Cooper, aka Ms. HeartBeat, on The Date Smarter Not Harder Relationships Talk Show. Shakhir Warren-Bey called in during the show.

Tuesday I received a message on Facebook from Shakhir aka Dr. Bey of Live Sex Talk Radio with Dr. Robinson and Dr.Bey. “Leather, Whips and Chains!! Oh My. Shining a light on the dark side of S&M Bondage” was the topic for the February 24 show. He remembered our conversation in December and asked would I like to join in?

Although short notice, I had no plans for Wednesday evening and how could an erotica writer and sex-positive advocate pass up an invitation to appear on a show called “Live Sex Talk Radio”? I’m glad I did, because I had a fabulous time. Fans of Live Sex Talk Radio don’t just listen to the show. They call in. They ask questions. They voice their opinions. I very much enjoyed the conversation.

You can listen to archives of Live Sex Talk Radio or join the Ning if you’d like to learn more and/or participate in frank discussions about sexuality.
