Am I crazy? Possibly.
I’ve participated in (and completed) National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) twice now. The first time the draft became the two novels Broken and Shattered, published last year. The second time I drafted Playing with Dolls which has yet to find a publisher. (But then, I wrote Dommemoir before Broken and Shattered and it found a publisher this year.)
Sometimes life happens while you’re making other plans. For many reasons (editing, promoting, personal developments, etc.), I haven’t had as much time to devote to producing new material as I would like. I very much want to draft out my next novel – a mystery/thriller that has festered in the back of my mind for many years and finally started demanding my attention last year. But I also would like to draft out a fantasy romance novel that I am writing in collaboration with my submissive, Patrick. I had hoped to have that draft finished before he went back to school in September.
As I mentioned, life happens. So, I’m going to try to do NaNoWriMo, twice. I have signed up as I.G. Frederick to draft the thriller (although that may eventually get published under a different pseudonym). I also have signed up under another name to write the first draft of the fantasy novel from Patrick’s outline. I am committing to writing 100,000 words of fiction in the next 30 days. Needless to say, I won’t be doing much else.
I’ve cleared my calendar, I’ve weaned my Twitter feed, I’ve trimmed my subscriptions. I will post my progress weekly and tweet my word counts daily. Wish me luck.
